The Pride of the Susquehanna Riverboat is anauthentic stern-driven paddle wheel riverboat built 25 years ago asa community service project by the Harrisburg Area RiverboatSociety for the benefit of and visitors to the Harrisburg,Pennsylvania area.The Harrisburg Area Riverboat Society is a 501-c-3 non-profitpublic service organization headed by a Board of community leaders.The purpose of our organization includes increased tourism,economic development, and enhanced education regarding the historyand ecology of the Susquehanna River and our region.Since her construction and launch under the leadership of localbusinessman Mike Trephan in 1988, the Pride has carriedthree-quarters of a million passengers. She’s has been, and iscontinually, used for weddings, parties, business functions, awhole variety of themed dinner cruises, Murder Mysteries, and theever popular Pirates on the Pride. In recent years, the Pride’sevents expanded drastically to include fun events like Arooga’sWing Night, Hard-shell Crab Nights, Blues, Jazz, cover bands &Happy Hour Cruises, Family Nights, Wine & Cheese Cruises, andmuch more.The Harrisburg Area Riverboat Society is also highly dedicatedto education. To fulfill this important mission, we operate theSusquehanna River School, an organization and unique floatingclassroom experience, teaches children, adults and seniors alikeabout the history, ecology and environmental issues concerning theSusquehanna River and our region.The Pride is offered by the Riverboat Society as a low-cost, funalternative activity for the public to enjoy our beautiful naturalresource, the Susquehanna River. Proceeds from ALL cruises (besideshelping to keep the riverboat running!) go towards our communityservice projects that benefit seniors, children, military veteransand more.
